Revolutionary Solid State Electronic Compass Design
As OEM manufacturer Elproma Electronics designs and manufactures nautical instruments for several years now.
Amongst our products are electronic compasses with the (old) gimballed coil technique and parts like floating coils. In order to improve the accuracy, quality and reliability we have developed a new solid state electronic compass without any moving parts, based on magnetic and gravity sensors.
The compass system consists of two parts, a sensor and an indicator.
We have designed 2 indicators to comply with different customers wishes. Both indicators are available with NMEA 0183 interface, NMEA2000 and even wireless with Bluetooth.

ECI1, Compass Indicator with bended course scale.
This LCD indicator looks like a normal compass with a moving bended course scale. The ships heading is fixed towards the front of the ship. The moving scale has very small steps of 1 degree, the digital reading below has steps of 0,5 degree for a more accurate reading.

ECI2, Compass Indicator with large 7-Segment Display.
The second model is made for those who want a large view of the digital compass reading.
We added an additional analogue heading bar in the top of the display where the scale is fixed and a moving arrow indicates the ships heading.
If the GPS option is chosen the display shows GPS heading or DRIFT as well.
This display has a multifunctional line which can be used for several different purposes such as; DATE, TIME, LOG, TRIP, SPEED, LONGITUDE and LATITUDE.

ECS, Electronic Compass Sensor.
The solid-state Electronic Compass Sensor ECS has an accuracy of 1 degree and is available in a few different configurations.
An additional GPS module can be combined with the compass sensor.
The interface is like both indicators available in NMEA 0183, NMEA2000 and Bluetooth. The Bluetooth option allows easy installation. Only 12 to 24 volt has to be connected to the units, this supply voltage is randomly available on a ship. The more complicated data connection can be omitted.
